1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that stores Internet settings. Almost all websites use this technology. The first time you visit a website, your internet browser downloads it. The next time you visit the website from the same device, the cookie and the information stored in it are sent back either to the website that created it (first-party cookie) or to another website to which it belongs (partner cookie). This allows the website to recognize that it has already been viewed with this browser and, in some cases, to change the content displayed.
There are extremely useful cookies that can improve the user experience when you visit websites that you have already visited several times. If you use the same device and browser as before, the cookies remember, for example, what you like, how you use a website, and adapt the offers displayed to your personal interests and needs. Most of the cookies we use are automatically deleted from your hard drive after the end of your browser session (“session cookies”). We also use cookies that remain on your hard drive after the end of your session. This is mainly done to improve the user experience when you next visit the website by adapting the website to your personal needs and thus optimizing loading times.
2. Cookie settings on this website
2.1 Cookies that do not require consent
Strictly necessary cookies perform functions without which you would not be able to use this website as you wish. These cookies are used exclusively by us and are therefore called first-party cookies. They are only stored on your computer during the current browser session. Strictly necessary cookies: We have a so-called session cookie for the login function. Without this cookie, login is not possible and therefore there are no functions after login.
In addition, such cookies ensure, for example, that the site switches from http to https when changing pages, and thus that the highest security requirements for data transmission are met. Consent is not required for the use of strictly necessary cookies.
Strictly necessary cookies cannot be deactivated using the website function. However, they can be deactivated at any time in the browser used. For this, see the instructions below.
2.2. First-party cookies requiring consent
Cookies that are not strictly necessary for the use of the website in a purely legal sense nevertheless perform important tasks. Without these cookies, functions that enable convenient browsing on our website, such as pre-filled forms, would not be available. Settings made, such as language selection, cannot be saved and are therefore queried again on every page. Furthermore, it is not possible to provide you with individual offers.
Below is a list of the first-party cookies used with a more detailed description:
- Cookie name: Automatic login cookie
Task: The cookie remembers whether a user is already logged in.
Storage period: Session and some data up to 2 years (all data is anonymized)
- Cookie name: Webtrekk GmbH (www.webtrekk.com)
Task: We use the Webtrekk service to collect statistical data on the use of our website. We use this data to permanently improve and optimize the website and our offer and therefore make it more interesting for you. The data provides parameters such as the number of visitors, click behavior and the average active duration of the website users on a page; the aim is to evaluate this to further improve the website. We also use the referrer URLs to statistically evaluate the number of users who come to our website from partner websites; the aim is to find out which marketing campaigns on our website have aroused interest.
Storage period: The cookie is deleted after 6 months of inactivity. If the user makes another visit within this period, the cookie lifetime is extended by another 6 months (all data is anonymous or anonymized). - Cookie name: Tealium (tealium.com/de/privacy/)
Task: We use the Tealium iQ service to manage our marketing tools. Tealium acts as an intermediary between the website and our partners. The data is forwarded to Tealium and we communicate this to the partner accordingly.
Storage period: The data is not stored, but is only transmitted to the partner. - Cookie name: Visual Website Optimizer (vwo.com/knowledge/how-secure-is-vwo)
Task: We use VWO (Visual Website Optimizer) to perform user tests to optimize and improve our website. VWO analyzes statistical data about the use of our website. We also use the tool as an A/B test tool. In doing so, we assign data such as the number of users, click behavior, and average active time of users on the website to the corresponding test variants.
Storage period: for the duration of the connection, or for some data up to 10 years (all data is anonymous or anonymized)
2.3. Partner cookies requiring consent
This website also integrates third-party content. If you consent to this when visiting the website, these third-party providers may theoretically set cookies when you visit the website and thus receive information, for example, that you have visited one of our websites. Please visit the websites of the third-party providers for more information about how they use cookies.
Partner cookies used
- Cookie name: Google Inc. (support.google.com/adwords)
Task: This website uses Google AdWords, and within the framework of Google AdWords, it uses Conversion Tracking and Remarketing Codes. In this process, Google AdWords places a cookie for Conversion Tracking if you click on one of the advertisements linked by Google. If you visit certain pages on our website, both Google and we can recognize that you clicked on the advertisement and were sent to that location. The information obtained using Conversion Cookies is used to create statistics for AdWords customers using Conversion Tracking. These statistics allow us to know the total number of users who clicked on an advertisement linked by Google and called up a page with a Conversion Tracking link. Using Google’s Remarketing function, we can reach users who have already visited our website. This way, we can display our advertising to target groups who are already interested in our products or services. Storage period: 30 days (all data is anonymous or anonymized). - Cookie name: Facebook (www.facebook.com/policy.php)
Task: The Facebook Pixel can be used to track user-defined target groups and conversion events. This allows multiple modified events to be sent to a page and additional data can be obtained using the referrer URL. Specific behavior patterns can be recorded and analyzed, which allows us to draw detailed conclusions about the effectiveness of the advertisement and the user group addressed in retrospect, thus contributing to the optimization and more attractive design of our own advertisements. Storage period: (temporary) session cookies expire when the connection is terminated. Permanent cookies have a longer storage period. (All data is anonymous or anonymized, which means that we do not see the personal data of individual users. However, this data is stored and processed by Facebook, which we inform you about according to the current state of our knowledge. Facebook may connect this data to your Facebook user account and use it for its own advertising purposes, in accordance with Facebook’s data usage policy. You may allow Facebook and its partners to display advertisements on and off Facebook.) - Cookie name: Adform (www.adform.com/site/privacy-policy/)
Task: We use Adform to evaluate our marketing activities, measure success and optimize our advertising operations. The cookie contains an advertising identifier, but does not contain any characteristics (e.g. full IP address, first name, last name, address, email address) that could personally identify you. However, we use the advertising identifier to recognize which advertising tool you used to see us. Storage period: 60 days (where all data is anonymous or anonymized).
Employee tracking services
- Onsite Targeting
The PULS 4 TV GmbH & Co KG websites use the cookies mentioned above (connection cookies and temporary cookies) to store data to optimize advertising offers. However, this does not make any personal allocation. This is only data collected for the purpose of optimizing the website. The data is used to provide advertising/special offers and services tailored to the user. This makes the offer even more attractive and customer-friendly for the customer. This is the only way to offer advertising/services tailored to the interests of the customer. The customer will then only receive advertising that is truly interesting and not a wide range of generic advertisements. Apart from this, the customer can of course revoke his consent to receive advertising at any time. - Retargeting
ReTargeting works very similarly to OnsiteTargeting. The main difference is that third-party companies are also involved in Re-Targeting. The PULS 4 TV GmbH & Co KG service also uses so-called Re-Targeting software. This technology makes it possible to address the user with an advertisement on the website of a partner of PULS 4 TV GmbH & Co KG. This allows the user to be provided with interest-based advertising that goes beyond the service spectrum of PULS 4 TV GmbH & Co KG. If necessary, the cookies mentioned above (connection cookies and temporary cookies) are used for this, with which previous usage behavior can be read, but in this case too, no data relating to individuals is stored and transmitted. The partners of PULS 4 TV GmbH & Co KG do not receive any personal user data. The advertisement is simply displayed on the partner’s pages without being linked to the personal data of a specific person using the data (cookies, storage of user behavior). It is also not possible for third parties to link usage and behavior to the person in question.

Unfortunately, we have no influence over the scope of data collected by social media platforms through these plugins.
