Peep Adapter

  • This adapter is suitable for creating PEEP for breathing systems or for some older types of ventilators.
  • The use of this model in Hungary is limited.
  • Compatible ventilators: Hallowell, Surgivet type stand-alone ventilators. Rare in Hungary.
  • In the case of Mindray Veta5, its use is pointless, because Veta5 can also apply PEEP on its own.
  • In the case of Drager ventilators combined with an anesthesia machine, its use is probably pointless, depending on the type, if the base machine can also create PEEP.
  • The connection point of this PEEP adapter is after the overflow valve (not inside the breathing system).
  • The valve pressure values can be changed in the range of 2-10 cm of water, at these values the valve opens. This valve can be replaced with 5-20 cm of water if desired.
  • The great advantage of the system compared to the commonly used fixed PEEP valves is that the pressure values of the Vetanest PEEP adapter can be changed without the pressure dropping to zero. In contrast, if a fixed PEEP valve is replaced with a fixed PEEP valve of a different pressure, the pressure drops to zero for a short time during the replacement. This is very harmful, because even a single second can be enough for the lung to become atelectatic again and all the benefits of PEEP therapy are lost! The Vetanest PEEP adapter is clearly the better choice if PEEP is required during anesthesia.
  • Clinical indications for the use of PEEP include: open chest, certain lung parenchymal diseases, increased abdominal volume, laparoscopy, Trendellenburg position, etc.
