Course Description

🎯 Goal: To enable participants to apply inhalational anesthesia safely and confidently in everyday veterinary practice.

This two-day hybrid course, focusing on dogs and cats, provides an ideal starting point for mastering the safe application of inhalation anesthesia.

The first day is dedicated to theory and offers an overview of the principles of modern inhalation anesthesia, including the pharmacological, monitoring, and technical aspects required for safe anesthesia. We also cover the most common and clinically relevant anesthetic complications in detail, along with their recognition and management. As the entire topic of anesthesia must be condensed into a single day, this course is intentionally intensive and concise. The aim is not to provide exhaustive theoretical depth, but to give participants a practical, high-yield understanding of the fundamentals of safe inhalation anesthesia. For those who wish to explore the topic in greater depth, advanced courses will be available in the near future.

The second day is a practical session, where participants apply the principles of inhalation anesthesia during routine procedures (e.g. neutering) in dogs and cats. Participants actively take part in the different stages of anesthesia, from induction through monitoring to recovery.

What our participants say

I found the course incredibly valuable for strengthening my knowledge of anaesthesia and for building the confidence to perform procedures without fear. I have also had the privilege of applying these methods and teachings from the very beginning of my veterinary career under the mentorship of Dr. Solyom. I look forward to joining future courses to further develop my skills and become an even better veterinarian.
